Seth Godin Talks about tribes …

and all small business owners should pay attention to what he says.

Godin’s main point is that with the explosion of online communication, people are now able to satisfy a primal urge by being a part of a tribe.  Godin believes that small business owners are now 21st century tribal leaders.  In order to have a successful tribe, or client base, it’s more important to have new and niche ideas rather than average ones.  People like being part of a community, and successful communities are ones who have followers who are passionate about the ideas within that group, and who go out and tell others. What small business owners need to ask themselves is if their idea, or business, is great enough to have others tell their tribes about it.

Part 2

The points Godin makes further along are ones I will be discussing regularly on this site.  If you like what you see, you can read more from Seth at his blog linked over to the left.

Lawrence Online Marketing …

has now changed forever!  Here is the new Dark Horse Communications website, and in honor of our new redesign, I have gone ahead and posted two of the most important videos small business owners need to watch as an introduction to the new world of online or digital marketing.  The first video was written, researched and produced by an educator in Colorado for a presentation for colleagues.  The main point was to ask how teachers would teach in a world that is digitally connected and the video itself is a favorite within the Youtube.com community.  If you don’t have 10 minutes to spare, just go ahead and watch the revised version from earlier this year (The second video).

The videos are a great insight into what is happening to the world around us.  These videos will make smart small business owners question their online strategy and, more importantly, the future of their online presence.  Enjoy!
